Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible
The controller of your personal data is:
Oleg Korsunskiy (autónomo)
NIE: Z0619719N
Calle Gil-Vernet 54/55, Poligono Les Tapies 1 #1109
Hospitalet De L'infant, Tarragona 43890, Spain
Email: oleg@celebrity.compare
Write to this address about anything in this policy.
2. Your photo
When you choose photos of yourself, your browser sends them through Cloudflare to our server in Germany. The server turns the largest face on each photo into a face description (a set of numbers), estimates its apparent gender and approximate age, and compares it with the people in our gallery. You see the estimates and can change them.
Our server keeps the photos, the face descriptions and the estimates in memory only while it handles a request. It does not save them to disk or write them to logs. We do not use them to identify you, to train models or for anything other than showing you the results.
You do not have to give us a photo, but without one we cannot find your lookalikes.
Legal basis. You ask us to compare your photo, and we process it to do that (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). To the extent the face description counts as biometric data under Article 9 GDPR, we rely on your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)), which you give by choosing a photo after reading the notice next to the upload button. You can withdraw it by not uploading further photos. Our server keeps no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete.
The comparison is automatic. It produces a list of similar-looking people and has no legal or similarly significant effect on you.
3. What stays on your device
So that your results survive a page reload, the site keeps your photos, their face descriptions, the estimates, your filters and the last results in your browser's storage. The site stops using this copy after one day and deletes it the next time you open the site. You can delete it earlier on the results page or by clearing the site's data in your browser.
We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
4. IP address and technical data
Like every website, the site receives your IP address and technical details about your browser and device with each request. We use the IP address to limit how many comparisons one person can run per minute and to protect the Service from abuse. The recognition server keeps it only in memory for this count and does not write it to disk or to logs. Cloudflare keeps request logs, which include the IP address, for up to 7 days. We use them only to find errors and investigate abuse.
Legal basis. Our legitimate interest in keeping the Service working and protected (Art. 6(1)(f)).
5. Usage statistics
We count visits and a few actions, such as choosing a photo, finishing a comparison, changing a filter or sharing a match, with analytics software that runs on our own server in Germany. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
For each visit it records the page, the referring site, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and the approximate location (country, region and city) it works out from the IP address. It does not save the IP address. It groups page views into visits with an identifier computed from the IP address and browser details together with a secret value that changes periodically. The recorded actions contain nothing about your photo or your results.
We look at these statistics only in aggregate, to see how the site is used and to improve it. We keep them while we run the Service. Every night a copy of the statistics database is saved to Cloudflare storage and deleted after 30 days.
Legal basis. Our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f)).
6. People in our gallery
This section is for the people whose photos appear in the results.
We build the gallery from two public sources: Wikidata, which describes well-known people, and Wikimedia Commons, which holds freely licensed photos of them. For each person we keep:
- name and description;
- facts published on Wikidata, for example profession, citizenship, dates of birth and death, gender, sport, team and awards, and categories we derive from them;
- how many Wikipedia articles and page views the person has;
- photos from Commons with their author, licence and, where known, the year taken;
- a numerical description of the face in each photo.
We use this data to build the gallery and to show visitors which well-known people look like them, with a name, a photo and a link to Wikipedia. We keep it while the person is in the gallery. We rebuild the gallery from the sources from time to time, so corrections made there reach us with the next rebuild.
Legal basis. Our legitimate interest in offering this entertainment service, using information that is already public (Art. 6(1)(f)).
If you are in the gallery and want to be removed, write to oleg@celebrity.compare with a link to your Wikidata or Wikipedia page. We may ask you to confirm that the request comes from you. You also have the other rights listed in Section 10.
7. Photos and links from Wikimedia
We serve the photos in the results from our own storage at Cloudflare. A few may still load directly from Wikimedia's servers, which then receive your IP address and browser details. Links to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons take you to those sites. The Wikimedia Foundation handles that data under its own privacy policy.
8. Sharing a match
When you share a match, your browser makes the picture with your photo in it. It goes only where you send it; we do not receive it.
9. Who processes data for us
We do not sell personal data. These providers process it on our behalf:
| Provider | What it does for us | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) | Hosts and delivers the website, relays your photo to our server, stores the gallery photos and the statistics backup, forwards email | Requests with IP address and browser details, the photo in transit, request logs, statistics backup, email |
| Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) | Runs our server for the recognition and the statistics | The photo in memory during the comparison, the IP address in memory, the statistics |
Some of these providers are based in the United States or may process data outside the European Economic Area. These transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
If you write to us, we use your email address and message to reply and keep the correspondence as long as your request and any follow-up need it (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)). Cloudflare forwards emails to our Gmail mailbox, so Google Ireland Limited also receives them and handles them under its own privacy policy.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD) you can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing and a portable copy. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interest, and you can withdraw consent at any time; this does not affect processing done before. Write to oleg@celebrity.compare. We reply within the time limits the GDPR sets.
We have no accounts and do not know who our visitors are, so we usually cannot link statistics or logs to a particular person (Art. 11 GDPR). If you want us to check, tell us what would help us find your data.
You can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), C/ Jorge Juan 6, 28001 Madrid, www.aepd.es, or to the authority in the EU country where you live or work.
11. Age
The Service is for people aged 18 and over.
12. Changes
We update this policy when the Service changes. The date at the top shows the current version.
